One quick thing I wanted to mention. There has been a lot of hullabaloo raised over the $600 garbage cans the City of Peoria is planning on buying for downtown. As someone who has been involved in bidding jobs for the city, I can say this- They got a helluva deal on them. The poor sap company that is selling the garbage cans to the city will be lucky if they’re making 10% on the deal. Peoria doesn’t jump head over heels into any job, whether it be mops for custodians or the aforementioned cans. After paperwork and labor, the company selling the cans to the city may break even if they’re lucky. While I don’t feel it’s right that tax money is being spent for something so superficially trivial, at least they screwed their vendor in the process. That’s gotta give a cat a warm, fuzzy feeling.

On the most basic level, it is NOT the taxpayers’ place to pay for this venture. If the business owners and citizens of Peoria care as much as the council has led us to believe, they should be more than happy to privately fund Operation Pretty Garbage Can. What, you LIKE paying 10% tax on every meal at a restaurant in Peoria? Then, hey, by all means, enjoy those gorgeous waste receptacles that your illegally seized income paid for. While you’re at it, hand all of your guns and knives over to the government and the criminals, drive your earth-f**ker SUV’s, push all of your personal responsibilities off on someone else, and pop 2 kids so you don’t have to work another day in your life for minimum wage.

“The government shall levy no tax against the people…”
