*Insert entendre using the word “Bush” here*

President Bush paid a visit to our fine city today. I have a few things I would like to point out, some of which disturb me, some of which amuse me, some of which do both.
* Bush went to Sterling Family Restaurant for breakfast on the way to Caterpillar. My grandfather LOVES Sterling Family Restaurant. If you’ve ever been to the Parkway Diner (formerly Cummins), it’s a lot like that, only with divided rooms. He had wheat toast. If he wanted to identify with people from Peoria, he should’ve had a couple fried eggs, hash browns, and biscuits all covered with gravy and a side of lard. Nothing speaks to a Peorian like clogged arteries.
*He pronounced Illinois “IlliNOISE”. Completely unacceptable. From this day forward, I shall refer to him as the Presidents ofs thes Uniteds Stateses.
*”I always heard everything’s bigger in Texas. After touring the Caterpillar factory, I’m not so sure anymore.” Caterpillar has very large dozers. Texas is bigger than most countries.
*The president’s speech was given from Building SS in East Peoria. The president thanked every possible person he could from Peoria, including Mayor Ardis (who got to ride with him in the limo), but never once mentioned anyone from East Peoria. The office of the mayor has worked very hard to improve his city by building Eastside and getting the Par-a-Dice, among other things. I thought it was rather disrespectful of the President to not mention East Peoria’s mayor during the speech. Sort of like a politician visiting Peoria and thanking Mayor Daley.
*I don’t know many people other than Vonster who are happy with Dubya’s performance. I wonder how carefully they selected the raucously applauding attendees today? It reminded me of one of the “Town Hall” meetings Bush seems to be so fond of. Nothin’ proper about your propaganda.
All around, I’m pretty happy I got to see it, and good for the myopian neocons who think he’s doing a good job. I think the rest of us are just counting down the days until November 2008. God, I hope it’s not Hillary.

Not to mention the fact that the ignorant fuck was IN East Peoria and NOT Peoria. It is completly shitty the way he ignored that fact. As he spoke he kept saying it was soooo good to be in Peoria today. HE WASNT IN PEORIA…He was in East Peoria. TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CITIES. And you are right…it WAS disrespectful of Mayor Ardis to not even acknowledge Mayor Dobellaire. (He was probably too busy checking out his perfect profile in the visor mirror of the limo) But it’s typical of Peoria to dismiss us as secondary to their fine culture. HA.
I was offered a ticket to go see Bushy this morning. The thought made me want to vomit. I told the offerer that he would have to pay ME to go, and not vice versa.
I cannot wait til NOV 2008. BYE BYE MORON.
OBAMA IN 08!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry…had to vent.
Hugs-
T
Oh, and from what I heard the tickets were distributed to the local Chambers and specific Cat employees. From there they were to be distributed by each chambers director. Keep in mind that most chambers of commerce are primarily made up of business owners. Mostly wealthy, upper middle class…conservatives. How else was he going to get a crowd of applause there?…he picked his audience…typical.

He also invited all of the surrounding officials, such as Mayor Norman Durflinger of Morton. Brad, Mayor Durflinger’s son, told me that his father had a brief opportunity to speak with President Bush.
I think it was kind of cool for the President to visit and put Peoria in the national spotlight. He wasn’t here to visit East Peoria, he was here to visit Caterpillar. Mayor Ardis met him at the airport, Mayor Dobbelaire of East Peoria did not. Had Mayor Dobbelaire been there and rode along to the diner, I’m sure President Bush would have also acknowledged him as well. As far as I’m concerned, East Peoria should join Peoria so we could actually be considered a city. You want to gripe about being the little brother, start complaining about all of the stupid laws us Illinoisan’s have to abide by because of Chicago. East Peoria should join Peoria, and Chicago should become it’s own d**n state so I can have the right to carry law and actually feel safe when I travel the streets of Peoria. The law works in Texas and Iowa, and I’m sure those aren’t the only states that have the law. Blog about that.

The president spoke from building SS in East Peoria.
There’s no way East Peoria and Peoria should merge. I’m personally not very fond of paying 10% tax every time I eat out. I’m also not very fond of Peoria’s complete lack of fiscal responsibility. The last thing we need is the schools getting as bad in Tazewell as they are in 150.
Yes, it was sort of novel for the Presidents to put Peoria in the spotlight. However, Peoria isn’t from where he spoke. Like I said, he might as well have thanked Mayor Daley while he was at it. I get the feeling the mayor of East Peoria wasn’t even invited to ride with the president or go to breakfast with him.

COME ON BRANDON!!! Get your facts straight. Mayor Dobellaire is in Arizona on break because he recently had open heart surgery, and he was instructed to take the time off. He could not be here for the event. Our second in charge-Tom Brimberry (the city administrator) was not even invited, he luckily got a ticket at the last minute. Fact of it is, East Peoria was completely disrespected, and Mayor Ardis was too busy kissing ass to acknowledge any other mayor. He’s good at that, you see.
And as far as making East Peoria and Peoria one town…that’s funny. It would be one way to make it very easy for Peoria to snag our VERY LARGE tourism dollars, wouldnt it? I’m sure they would just LOVE to have our Cat 65 acres, and our gambling boat and our Eastside center. Yeah…
And another thing… let me remind you of something…Caterpillar was founded and originated in EAST PEORIA not PEORIA. So, if that village idiot we must acknowledge as our president was visiting Caterpillar…he was visiting EAST PEORIA…NOT PEORIA.
Honestly…why can’t conservatives just admit it when they fuck up??? They are so full of excuses. Mayor Ardis fucked up…Congressman Lahood fucked up, and Bush fucked up (big shocker, I know…(rolls eyes)
It was a fiasco, and don’t be surprised at election time when whomever he endorses and supports for the GOP nomination actually loses about 60% of the East Peoria vote. We are a strong community, and are proud of the growth and development of our town. East Peoria deserves some respect, and not to be considered Peoria’s kid brother. Peoria may have the numbers, but we have the commerce and the development.
The whole thing sucked ass…and A LOT of people are really pissed off.
It was a total fiasco, and apologies need to be made.
Period.

*Editors note: Some content has been changed for comedic effect.*
You both should go kiss Al Gore or Hillary Clinton’s butt.
I’m from Morton. As far as I’m concerned, Norman Durflinger is the President. If he was invited to go to the speech, I’m sure it wasn’t very hard for the others to attend.
I think you both have watched a bit too much of “An Inconvenient Truth” or something.
No hard feelings, just a little too much bitching around Peoria. If I were President, I’d never come to Peoria. I’d be visiting Florida and California, getting a sweet tan. Why would he come in the coldest months anyhow? While listening to 1470 WMBD all morning, they mentioned that he had vast knowledge of Peoria. Obviously he doesn’t, or he would have known it is colder than s**t in January/February.
Pretty boy strikes again.

And another thing, the only thing he mentioned about Mayor Ardis was him bitching about the cold. I’d rather not be mentioned sounding like a pussy.

Time out…I am NOT a tree-hugging communist crybaby hippie Democrat! Take it back. Now.

I’ll take it back if you promise to vote for Mayor Giuliani in ‘08. Otherwise you’re a tree-hugging communist crybaby hippie Democrat John Kerry wannabe.

This isn’t fair. I don’t have the ability to change what you say for “comedic effect. Keep your day job. The Jukebox is funny enough already, jokester.

It’s unfair and it erks me that Cory has changed my posting. It’s pretty easy to make fun of somebody when they are not given the opportunity to defend themselves. I invite you the opportunity to come share your ideas on my blog. I also offer you the chance to run for public office. It’s very easy to sit behind a computer and make snide comments, but let’s see how you hold up in the limelight. There is a reason that you don’t hold a public office.

I fully intended on changing it back. Just having a little fun. And you misspelled “irk”.

Ok…
I like Mayor Guilliani (sp?) He was a hero after 911. He did more than the retard in the white house did. He was cool under pressure and got a lot done. His efforts really made me have a lot of respect for him.
However…
He’s a republican, and they gotta go.
Nuff said.
