My friend Kate recently put an entry in her blog about how unbelievably busy she is. I admire her greatly for finding the time and motivation to do all the things she does. It really made me start thinking, as a bachelor with no kids, what do I REALLY have to do every day? I made a list. It’s not real long.
1.) Get to work on time. I’m 30-60 minutes late once every couple of months.
2.) Feed myself. I often go from lunch on Friday to Sunday evening without eating. When one drinks all weekend, one often forgets to eat. If I wake up hungry on Saturday or Sunday, I’ll usually grab a drink.
3.) Bathe. I’m good about that one.
4.) Take care of myself. In one week, I drink around 50 beers, smoke 5 packs of cigarettes, eat 4-5 fast food lunches, and get zero exercise.
That’s really about it. As one can plainly see, it’s a damn good thing I don’t have kids.
Oh yeah, but I get to do whatever I want, when I want, as long as it doesn’t interfere with work.

Sweet, Cory…Thank you very much for the admiration. Though I really don’t deserve it. I was really just blogging to vent. And as you so elequently stated…I am batshit crazy. Well, I am making myself crazy at least.
You’re only in your 20’s once. There is nothing wrong with having the freedom to do whatever you want to do. Have a nice time and go easy on that liver. You may need it later on.

You have time to bathe? Whenever you want? That’s a definite plus of bachelorhood vs. parenthood.
I envy you the “home alone” time. I miss being in my house, no one else around, and being able to do what I want with no interruptions. Eat whipped cream from the can? No big deal. Diet coke for breakfast, yes, no worries of being a bad influence….

The funny thing is, most of the “home alone” time I have is spent “at a bar”. It’s gotten better since I did a full overhaul of my apartment, but I’m still out A LOT.

Beer is food, my friend. Beer is food. And exercise is highly overrated. I do it too often, but it’s the only way I can accommodate and purge my extra drink calories — especially when I drink pint upon pint of my favorites, such as Newcastle Brown Ale or Guinness.

Kevin is correct. Beer is food. In fact one of our neighborhood mottos it that there is a pork chop in every bottle!

When I read “take care of myself”, I was thinking something TOTALLY different than what I read…I know, I’m a pervert.

Yes it’s good you don’t have kids. Enjoy your time alone before it becomes a burden.
