Leaving RISP has been the modus operandi of the Cubs all year, and leaving RISP was what lost the game for them last night. It seemed like every inning there was a runner at second base with no one out, and same said person was still on second when the third out came. The most egregious of their mistakes was leaving Zambrano in to bat in the 6th with the bases loaded and two outs. Sure, he was pitching well, but they would have been far better off to bring in a pinch hitter and trusting the bullpen. Everyone knows, once you get that late into a game, Carlos Zambrano is one temper tantrum away from throwing 25 meaty fastballs right in the wheelhouse until he gets pulled.
For those who are interested, I will be at the Winchester around 730 or 8 to assure myself a seat for the Cub game. It would be nice to see some of you, so if you feel like coming down, give me a call.
Oh yeah, since I missed the moment before…HOLY SHIT, THE CUBS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! OMG!!!!
That is all.
