Blogger Bash
There are five Tuesdays in September, which means there will be another Blogger Bash on September 30th. I’m beating Billy to the punch and taking suggestions for a location. In order to keep the bitching from Mr. Dennis to a minimum, let’s stay away from chain restaurants, shall we? Hopefully this is enough time for everyone to find a sitter.
Update #1 (8/12 9:35 AM): I should probably check my moderation queue a little more frequently now that responsibility has been passed to me. So far we have the following locations nominated:
Ludy’s Kickapoo Creek Saloon (That just SOUNDS far away)
TnT’s (I, along with many of my friends and family, have been boycotting TnT’s for several months due to what we feel was the wrongful dismissal of a good friend)
Gorman’s
Firehouse (On Galena, not in Morton)
Schooner’s on War
Donnelly’s (They get my vote, because they’ll make ‘em extra sloppy!!)
Kelleher’s
Eamon Patrick’s
Richard’s
Update #2 (8/13 10:28 AM): Richard’s seems to be the leader right now. There are plenty of tables and plenty of room, and yes, it is locally owned and not part of a chain.
Update #3 (8/15 2:35 PM): Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it appears we’re taking Richard’s FTW. Customary start time is 6 PM. Please try to be prompt, TAILZ AND SONIC AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO ISN’T KATE, PI, RENO, OR ME.
(Now that I’ve said that, there’s certain to be some unforeseen circumstance that makes me late.)

I nominate the McDonald’s on Knoxville, next door to the car wash place.

Dude, that’s 7 weeks away.

Billy,
No. And since I announced it first, I get to say yes or no. It doesn’t matter that “no one reads my blog”.
PI,
Exactly. Seven weeks might be enough for everyone to find a sitter. And no one can say, “I wish I would’ve known sooner!” Because they have seven weeks.

I vote for Ludy’s Kickapoo Creek Saloon

Is all this sitter talk indirectly about me? (And, yes, the world does revolve around me . . . .) Anyway, I usually can get a sitter whenever, but she was on vacation (in Pekin) and didn’t have transportation from Pekin to Peoria because her boyfriend is a deadbeat and wouldn’t drive from Peoria to Pekin and back again because he was too busy doing whatever it is that slacker boyfriends do on Tuesdays.
Yes, this the drama that is my life.
Come hell or high water (or bringing my children to a bar) I will be at the blogger bash in September.
Unless I get a better offer between now and then . . . .

Ideally, the site would
a. give us a separate party room
b. have a separate volume control for the jukebox/band/whatever and
c. feature male strippers.

Someone has to ask… who vacations in Pekin?!
on 11 Aug 2008 at 8:23 pm # idonotknowme
I vote for some place with lots of hotties!
on 11 Aug 2008 at 9:31 pm # Anon E. Mouse
T-n-T’s on Meadows in East Peoria.
They have Free Wi-Fi.
Cubs @ Mets - 6:10pm start that night
on 11 Aug 2008 at 9:45 pm # Chef Kevin
Gormans Pub, Firehouse Bar & Grill on Galena Road, Schooners on War (Outside) and of course, I’m impartial to Donnelly’s.
And now that Elliott’s has a liquor license…..
on 11 Aug 2008 at 9:54 pm # C. J. Summers
Kellehers.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 8:09 am # Jennifer
I vote for Eamon Patricks. One, it’s not a chain, two, it’s downtown (pretty equidistant for the Peoria people and those who reside on “the other side” of the river), three, it’s not too expensive, four, I don’t think it would be too crowded in the early evening.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 8:20 am # postsimian
Kelleher’s or Richards. Downtown doesn’t see any love on Tuesday.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 11:12 am # Linda
Richard’s would fit the bill perfectly…well, except for male strippers.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 11:16 am # Linda
Oh, and Richard’s has internet/wifi and lots of TVs.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 11:56 am # Kevin Lowe
Richard’s seems ideal. And it’s underground — what a nice touch (in a “Cheers” kinda way). I’m not sure if they have any drink specials on Tuesdays.
Feed Howie enough beer, and I’m sure he’d get naked and do a special dance. Should accommodate the demand for male strippers.
Ladies, save up those dollar bills!
(Uhggg . . . must now proceed to the nearest supply of pure grain alcohol . . . to remove disturbing mental image)

Eamon’s has a lot of different yummy stuff on tap. But Kelleher’s would get me to attend. Mmmm Beamish beef.
on 12 Aug 2008 at 7:32 pm # Marty Wombacher
Why don’t you people come out here to New York? We can go to the Stoned Crow bar. Last Sunday a drunken woman threatened to cut my head off. Always a good time!
on 13 Aug 2008 at 8:26 am # Jennifer
Hmm.. Okay, Richards is sounding pretty good to me, too… but do they have any large tables or a seperate area for groups?
on 13 Aug 2008 at 8:38 am # Linda
Indeed they do! We can push tables together and it’s in a separate area. Besides, I doubt there will be many people there on a Tuesday night. We can have free reign of the lower section.
on 13 Aug 2008 at 10:36 am # Billy Dennis
I cast my vote for Richards, too. I love that joint. BIG fan of that large painting they have greeting everyone who enters. It’s a left over from when the place was notorious speakeasy.
on 13 Aug 2008 at 1:51 pm # PeoriaIllinoisan
Well, whatever you all decide, let me know in 7 weeks.
For the record, my vote is Gorman’s back room or Kellehers.
on 13 Aug 2008 at 8:14 pm # idonotknowme
Eamon Patrick’s is my pick.
on 15 Aug 2008 at 11:20 am # Jaded
I vote anywhere that has food…cause I don’t eat nearly enough as you all have seen from my sexy, svelte figure. LOL
Seriously…anything downtown sounds great.
:o)
on 15 Aug 2008 at 1:43 pm # postsimian
Sweet, I called it.
Keep us updated. Seven weeks can really fly by.
on 15 Aug 2008 at 2:08 pm # PeoriaIllinoisan
So what you’re saying is in 6 1/2 weeks I have permission to be late?
on 15 Aug 2008 at 3:16 pm # mortonmalaise
No, PI. What I’m saying is we were the only ones who WEREN’T late last time. Wiseass.
on 15 Aug 2008 at 11:17 pm # postsimian
…and I wasn’t even supposed to be there that day.
