Half full, damnit!
I, like many other fans of our lowly Chicago Cubs, have been the type of fan waiting for the other shoe to drop for many years. Waiting to see how our Cubbies are gonna fuck it up this year, who’s going to get hurt, which pitcher is going to take the mound with a Super Soaker full of kerosene and a lit match coming down the stretch.
Not this year.
Not this year, and frankly, I’m disappointed and angered by all you glass half-empty self-defeatist fucks. Everyone hoping and praying they get the chance to say “Well, maybe next year. Again. HAHA!” or “Well, whaddya expect? It’s the Cubbies?” NOT THIS YEAR. Know the last time the Cubs swept a doubleheader away from home with a margin of victory as large as the one a couple weeks ago? 1908. Coincidence? I think not. This is OUR YEAR. There have been too many amazing things that have happened this year for it not to be our year. Coming back from 10 runs down? Check. First home losing streak of more than 2 games not until September? Check. Best record at home? Check. Fewest losing streaks more than two games? Check.
Now, I know what you’re all thinking. Fukudome is ice cold. Zambrano is skipping MRI’s when he’s obviously hurt. Rich Harden is definitely not healthy. Marmol is a ticking timebomb. Well, I say fuck it. It’s our year, and none of that shit is getting in the way of our Cubbies.
For shame, naysayers. For shame.

Gotta love youthful optimism. I was like that once … before my heart was ripped out again and again and again. When I was a young pup, I didn’t understand my late Grandfather’s bitterness and frustration. In ‘84 I began to understand where he was coming from.
That being said, this is the best team and best chance they’ve had in years, and I agree, there is a weird mojo going on, but I will not relax until the last winning out (or walkoff homer) is made in the World Series.

I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation that you were “my hero” on the “Fuck the Bears” comment was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way ‘fair comment’ and was motivated purely by my joy in seeing your words, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you or your family. And I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.
Thank you.

“Not This Year.”
You are correct.
